Description
Dallas, Tex April 30, 1940 Mr. Amon G. Carter Ft. Worth, Tex. Dear Mr. Carter, I want to congratulate you on your "spunk". I have been wondering a long time what had happened to the newspaper men of Texas. They have evidently been bridled by the New Deal but I am sincerely glad you had the nerve to break away. Ickes is a "Carpetbagger" But I have just heard over the radio that the Garner crowd of Texas had sold out to Roosevelt. I hope you resent that and have done (illegible) for a free delegation to the Convention without the pledge to not (illegible) to stop Roosevelt. I (illegible) you & all the other people interested in restoring the people, business men & everybody their freedom which has been gradually lost by the terrible dictator policies of Roosevelt & his henchment that we women are not going to vote for Rossevelt - we'll put the Republicans in power if he is nominated. We are serious about this & feel that this country is on the brink of ruin & that Roosevelt will succeed in a very short in pushing us over. I read much, talk to people, & listen to the radio & I am concerned (as are many others) that (illegible) has not broken with Roosevelt. They are simply deceiving the people & we must stop the Communists - & I regard Roosevelt as out. With every good with for your success in helping us regain & (illegible) our freedom. Miss Hallie McCord 2701 Live Oak.
