Description
June 20/39. Mr. Amon Carter. Ft. Worth Texas. My Dear Mr. Carter: I wish I could find words to express to you my joy and deep appreciation for the beautiful medallion you presented to me on my David's graduation. Words are inadequate no matter how much I would say so please know that I am very, very grateful not only for this last gift but for all your many kindnesses to me and to David. Every where I go and wear the medallion someone notices and remarks about the unusualness and beauty of it. Then when I allow them to read the engraving they say "Davey O'Brien and Amon Carter are surely well known as two of Texas' outstanding sons." I am proud to have my David's name linked with yours. I want always for him to so live and conduct himself that you will be justly proud of him. Please remember me to Mrs. Carter. I think I have never met a more lovable, charming and gracious person. I do hope she is continuing to improve. Its hard to think of one so animated and full of the joy of living being ill. I'd like to be remembers to Ruth and Amon Jr. too. Assuring you for my gratefulness for the beautiful medallion which I shall wear with joy and pride. I am, most sincerely, Ella May Keith O'Brien.
