- Austin Texas August 19-43 Mr. Amon Carter Sr. Ft. Worth, Texas My Dear Mr. Carter, I regret that I have never had the opportunity to meet you for I have always heard such nice qualities you have and now as I feel pretty close to you for we have so much in common. First, may I tinroduce my self. I am Mrs. Benton Beasley of Ennis formerly, now am residing in Austin, Texas, and am working for Mr. George H. Sheppard - State Comptroller, down here. I wanted to come over to see you ever so many times but not having a personal car and as gasoline also tires are so precious these day, I could't ask my friends. But I want you to know that I have remembered you and your son in my prayers, praying God would give my husband, your so others with them and their families here the courage, faith and trust to go on and do for our country and people as they'd have us do. I wish I could see you for I could talk (illegible) to you but as I realize your time is so well taken, I must make this letter reasonably short. Mr. Carter, I'm sorry I didn't know sooner about your wanting the precious picture my husband sent me. I certainly would not have delayed mailing it to you. But the first I knew about it was yesterday. I received a special from the Ennis Daily News asking me to send it to them. So I did directly at that time. The pictures isn't so very good of Benton but its been so long since I have seen him, naturally, the picture is most dear to me. The last date I heard from Benton was July 4th. I hope you have heard recently. Its certainly breaking my heart because Benton has never heard from me. He never has heard from me or received any of my packages. I'm praying though that he has by now. Mr Carter, I hope I might hear from you and if I ever could do anything for you, I want you to know I'd love to. Sincerely Mrs Benton Beasley 111 E. 18th Austin, Texas
