Description
Feb. 27. 1945. Dear Mr. Carter, Thank you for your interest in us and in our son, Lieut. Clarence H. Brown. We had all ready heard from the War Department and had mailed both letters and packages to Clarence. We certainly appreciate the information regarding his welfare as late as December 10th. which came in the letter of another prisoner to his wife. The only direct communication from Clarence came as a Christmas card to his wife and was dated December 7th as near as we could make out. It had only his signature. We are hoping and praying that the report: 200 to 400 officers have escaped from Oflag 64 Germany, and reached Russia, is true and that our sons may be among them. We are sorry to have delayed in answering your thoughtful letter and want to assure you that if we learn anything new we will promptly notify you. Sincerely, Mr. & Mrs. Brown. C.O.
