- March 12, 1943 Mr. Amon Carter, Star-Telegram, Fort Worth. Dear Mr. Carter, Just a line this morning to express my sympathy and to hope that your son is alive. God grant that he may be respond to you. I counted Ms. (illegible) one of my friends. For the sake of her memory, and for yours and the boy's sake I pray that he may yet return. My two are in service. In a measure I can realize what you may be enduring. Sincerely, William W. Barnes
