- Description
- Dear Amon, - I was terribly sorry to hear about your boy. The feeling seems to be that he was taken prisoner which is much better than it might have been. You must be very proud of him & I certainly hope sincerely that he will come out of it all right eventually. My two sons & son in law are lieutenants in the navy. My oldest boy is executive officer on a mine layer with 15 officers & 300 men under him while the younger one is in command of a P.C. boat with 5 officers & 65 men under him. Everyone is talking about conditions after the war is over. If I get my boys back whole I won't worry about anything else. I guess that's the way we all feel who "are really close to the damnable war. We all miss you a lot at the meetings of A.A. Nothing very new except a big training program of enlisted men to be pilots, radio operators, navigators & mechanics for the transport service. Kindest regards for you most sincerely Chandler Hovey
