- Description
- 3/14/43 Dear Mr. Carter, Mrs. Guinn and the folks sent me the clippings about Amon Jr. I wish tehre were things to say to help you though the days of grief and anxiety and uncertainty. I know, though, that no words are ever adequate. I can only hope and pray for you that the full news, when it comes, will be good news. Whatever it is, you can always be proud of a son like Amon Jr. He would never have chosen an easier or a safer course than he did - So don't ever reproach yourself for the fact that he chose, as you would, to take the hard and dangerous job of fighting, rather 2/ than a safer on. My heart goes out to you and Ruth and Katrine and all who love him so much. That includes all of us who knew him even a little. I wish I could say more but you will understand and know the sympathy I feel and the prayerful wishes for you - Ben S.
