- March 17, 1943- Dear Mr. Carter, Here, in Menard, we share the anxiety you feel, because Roscoe Heyman Jr., son of the cashier of The Menard National Bank, is missing with your son- We fervently hope Texas' long time ambassador of good will and big friendship will not suffer the hardest loss that may be sustained by a man. You have done so much for Texas and Texans that I want you to be spared this grief- Yours truly- Russell Callan.
