- 205 Stubbs Ave. Monroe, Louisiana March 19, 1943. Dear Mr. Carter: I know how the news of Amon's being missing must have made you feel. Amon is the finest boy that I have ever known and his friendship is deeper in my heart that I can ever express. I just can't imagine anything bad ever happening to him and I know that he is safe. He just has to be. Until I hear some more about him I will pray every night for his safety. Faithfully yours, Pat Reardon
