Description
#7-13-Washington Square N. Apt. 45B. City. Dear Mr. Carter:- May I join the legion thousands in telling you how deeply we deplore the anxious and disturbing news you have so recently received from the War Drpt. Anent the whereabouts of your gallant soldier son, after his encounter with the Enemy in that epic Tunisian encounter in February. Tho' still missing, we feel that Amon Jr. is probably interned at some vicious Axis prison, but that somehow, he will return, strong of limb, sound of mind, and rich in adventurous lore, when his miraculous escape or release is affected. We sense the hurt in your heart & sorrow with you in your suspense_ But hope, 2. sustains us, despite fears & apprehensions, doesn't it? I know you must be very very proud of your valiant heir, and that it must be very gratifying indeed, to have given your country so intrepid a Defender_ I salute both fater, son! All the members of my little family unit, join with me, in wishing you an early reunion with the lad who led his regiment so fearlessly- Very sincerely - Pauline F. Grubbe
