Description
Maplewood. Chelsea, Oklahoma. March 24. 1943. My dear Mr. Carter:- We were so grieved to receive the clipping yesterday_ I think parents are having to stand a cruel test these days with our boys missing, killed and imprisoned. I join Mother in sending sincere sympathy to you in these distressing days. The picture of your boy was the typical American! How fine he looked! I'm sure with the intense grief- you are also very proud of him. Mother is in a very wretched condition. She has been in bed five weeks and her condition is very distressing. Her poor heart sometimes seems to stop entirely. She has recently suffered another hemorrhage and is very confused about things in general. I'm sure if she could understand, she would send you all of her love and sympathy. We hear frequently from Mrs. Rogers. She plans to come out later in the spring. Do you know how we are thinking of you, Mr. Carter and thatn you so much for the clipping. Sincerely Helen McSpadden Eaton.
