- March 25, 1943. Amon G. Carter, Ft. Worth Texas, Dear Mr Carter: I have really hesitated to express to you my sincere sympathy. Each day I have scanned the paper thinking that I would see some news of cheer with reference to Amon Jr. I feel that I have known you almost always and when I say that I feel for you it is not said in a formal tone.
