Description
March 27, 1943 Mr. Amon G. Carter Ft. Worth Star-Telegram Bldg Ft. Worth, Texas Dear Mr. Carter, Because I am generally out of touch with news of my friends in other branches of the service, I have only just received word that Amon has been reported missing in action. The little that I, as his friend, can say concerning my affection and regard for AMon would be trivial and superfluous of expression compared to the feelings that you, his father, must hold, and I feel that anything I might say would serve only to deepen your grief and anxiety. Even at this risk, however, I would like you to know that among the many friends in the various theaters of war of whom I have received adverse reports, there is not one who concerns me more deeply than Amon. I think that I can speark for all his many friends when I say that all of us join you in the most fervent hope that news of his well-being reach you soon, and that some happy day after this bitter war has run its course, we may all be together again, laughing at what will then be only an ugly dream. Sincerely- Beverley V. Thompson Jr. 1st Lt. AC. C.O. Training Sq. #6
