- Mar 30-43 Dear Amon- This is merely a little not to let you know how much I thought of your boy. He was very nice to my boy when he was a little fellow at Camp Hadland, and I will always be grateful for the way he watched over him. He was such a marvelous fellow, so fine looking- so kind- and so careful of the welfare of the young kids. Brooks, Jr. was just the age to appreciate attention from the older boys and was so grateful for Amon Jr's guidance. (illegible) to think that my boy goes into this Army next month himself. Another opprotunity I had of (illegible) AMon Jr was at my camp at (illegible) north. He went Mary Lane's crowd and frequently came with the bunch to the camp. Mrs Morris and I often agreed that if there was a finer boy than he we had never met him. Always a perfect gentleman- and always friendly and courteous to older people. I wouldn't know my reation in a case like this Amon- and I hesitated to write you but I thought you might care to know how much I thought of Amon Jr. and how my sympathy goes out to you in this time of sorrow. (illegible) this line very little we can say helps- so I thought it might help just a little to let you know how I admired the boy and how I have thought of him a thousand times since we got the news. I would love to be able to say something that would help juat a little_ but since it is impossible I will close Sincerely Brooks Morris
