- Nixon, Texas April 2, 1943 Dear MR Carter, I was so sorry to hear that your son is missing in action. You have probably heard by this time he is a prisoner, as so many of the officers in the 1st A.R. were captured. Fred came through the first battle safely. I want to thankyou for your kindness to Fred in England, and your thoughtfulness in sending me his message. Sincerely, Mrs. Fred Dodson Jr.
