Description
April. 7th. Dear Mr. Carter. The most beautiful box of spring flowers came on Satruday from you. Never have I seen more beautiful ones, snapdragons, iris, roses stock, delphinium, trinia, lilies (illegible) Mr. Carter everything. My house never looked gayer and as I was having people in for tea on Sunday afternoon, you were present too at least in spirit as ever one said, "What lovely flower" I said "Thanks to Mr. Carter." Ruth Eaker and I had such a nice lunch with you and the Doctor. It was interesting tho indeed sad to hear about your son. I do hope you have some news by now. And as you say, "If he is a prisoner, he will be well able to take care of himself." I do so hope this is the case and would like to hear any news of him. A letter from Col. Bubb yesterday says they are really doing things now. General Eaker has recommended him for a promotion to General- that tho as you know is in the lap of the Gods. He has been gone now fourteen months and so no hopes of coming home now. Again, I thank you Mr. Carter for the lovely flowers and hope you will come to out home next time you are in Washington for tea since no K.T.'s for you until Amon Jr. shows up. Most Sincerely Jane M.
