- Description
- At home My dear Amon- To have word of Amon Junior, after all these long days, is a feeling that can never be expressed in words! I was so thrilled, I wanted to sit right down and cry and I thought I had used up every tear I owned these last two years. However to cry because you are glad is something quite different. Lee was (illegible) the newspaper and Catherine Conway's voice was really "shaky"- She is the one who has the most courage of the Johnsons, too (that is when "Old Man Trouble" comes around!) We had a regular celebration so I have a faint idea how you must feel! The day we had our worst rain storm and it was cold too- there was a mass, at Saint Patricks, for Amon's welfare_ there were friends of yours there_ all bundled up in galoshes, rain coats, etc and they were there just to pray for your boy. I could not help but feel, with people caring that much, some good must come of it all_ however we are just begun, we must ask the Only One who can do it to safeguard him and bring our victory, quickly. Do not attempt to answer this note_ these are times in our lives when letter writing is too difficult and people who are really concerned about you do not require it. Amon Jr. wrote such a sweet note to Katherine Buck and me about the medal to the Blessed Virgin- this is my favorite prayer to her and I wish you would read it every day. Most sincerely Kate L. Johnson Wednesday.
