- Description
- 4-15-43 Dear Mr. Carter: Nothing in a long time could afford me more real relief than the attached news in this morning's paper, giving first notice of the fact that, after all, your son had been spared making the (illegible) sacrifice for liberty which so many had thought was his fate. It is ont thing for us "swivel chair strategists" to fight this war, another thing for fine, (illegible) young sons to march off (illegible) to fight it out there in the heat and the cold, the dust and the muck, the (illegible) and the skies- and still a third thing for others to have just a fleeting memory (illegible) life's fitful conciousness. I am truly glad you and your fine son have been spared this extreme loss, as much as America, in that great, (illegible) heart of hers, really does appreciate what service he has rendered, over beyond. Sincerely R.H. Moody Hon. Amon G. Carter Fort Worth.
