- Sir: - I'm writing you to express my interest and desire in obtaining a position as a pilot with American Airlines, and receiving information pertaining to my procedure in making application. I enlisted into the Army Air Forces in May 1942 direct from North Texas Agricultural College after completing two and a half years aeronautical engineering (Tech). Completed flying school in June 1943. Spent 17 month Tour as lasie flying instructor in BT-135 and HT-65 at Shaw field, S.C. I was transferred Tenn. for B-24 first pilot transitionI took phase training in heavy from cardment at Sowen feild, Boise Idaho and was transferred to March feild Calf. to fly radar reconnaisance as first pilot with crew, which is my present position. I have never been repremanded for violation of any flying regulation of failed to pass any flight check, instrument, contact, or emergency procedure. At the end of Phase training in the B-24 I was honored by the commanding officer for having the best crew. I have never been invlobed in an aircraft accident of any kind. My flying time totals abut 2,000 hrs. Present age is 23. With these qualifications I would appreciate an estimate of my chances with American Airlines as a pilot =. Yours Truly Lt. John V. Watson
