Description
Oflag 64 Germany May 25, 1944 Dear Florian, many thanks for your two letters, which I received today. One was dated Nov. 11th and the other May 3rd. The first letter came via the states for some unknown reason, so that explains the long time in transit. Am looking forward to the parcels send on May 3rd. You can't imagine how much I appreciate what you are doing for me, and I only hope I can return you favors some day. Everything here is fine and all of us are waiting for one thing. We now have 500 American officers in this camp, quite a few who have just arrived from the Italian Front. So far we have 47 Texas; including 3 from Fort Wroth. The winter passed very slowly for most of us but now that Spring is here, we are finding plenty to keep us busy. The camp has a very large garden and each officer has to work every so often. We then have sports, entertainment, and school. This may sound like a life of ease, but it isn't. So far I have spent most of my time learning German and Spanish. How is Lee getting along? I have had several letters from Lucy, his sister. Sure wish you could send me a snapshot of you and Lee. Also if possible please send me about 100 plain white envelopes. Will close now and I hope to hear from you soon Thanks again for the parcels. Sincerely, ,Amon G. Carter Jr.
