Description
July 11, 1944 Dearest Mother, Received two parcels from you this week, some Canadian cigarettes and a book parcel from Brentannos. Want to thank you for these and also for the stock you gave me for Christmas. Everything is fine here and lately our spirits have gone up quite a bit. It has really been hot lately and about all we think of is how wonderful it would be to have some ice cream or any kind of cold drink. Had a nice letter from Mrs. Ericson and she mentioned that something really burned her up. She is the first one who has said anything like that and all of us enjoyed her letter very much. I play 3 rubbers of bridge every night with the same partner against two other boys. IN one year, we're 13,900 points ahead. Whenever there is the slightest possibility of a slam bid, we bid it. We play a lot of poker for money but we don't car how much we lose, because the money isn't good for anything. ********* I should be receiving my perpetual Rolex watch any day now from Switzerland. It costs about #72 and is a beauty. I ordered it over a year ago. Have you seen any of the AP people lately. Will close now because I have to sweet out the room, it's pretty hard using a tree branch. I now weigh about 160 pounds. Lots of love to everyone. Amon Jr
