Tuesday Jan 9-1945 Lt Amon G Carter Jr A.P.O. War Interned Oflag 64 Germany. Dear Cow Boy. I left hom this morning before noon came by Chicago and will arrive in NY at 1037 PM. This country is all very white and [?] heavy overcast feels very good Ruth left home Saturday PM for Bronxville returning to school she will graduate April 28th finishing her four year term at Sara Lawrence College. She arrived in NY Monday night we certainly did not like to see her go with you away and Ruth in College the place seems like a morgue 2 your sister has grown to be a very delightful beautiful young lady and I know you will be very proud of her she makes friends with every body and is always so nice and courteous to her elders. They think she is extremeley polite friendly and genunite, all of which makes Dad very proud. I will likely be in NY for about ten days or two weeks to give Katrine a chance to get the office cleaned up as you know it is usually clutters up 3 went Quail hunting with Billie Bob Watt Sunday and brought home a lot of Quail i have 20 with me on the plane sure wish I could send them to you along with 9 Tennessee ham steaks I brought along from some nice hams that were sent to me Xmas I have been anxiously looking for a letter from you nothing since the one you sent your Mother Sept 28 except one that arrived two weeks later to me dated Sept 14th In other words we have had no direct word 4 from you in about 100 day, and we are all very much concerned as to how you are getting along your letter of Sept 14th to me stated you had about 700 prisoners now in your camp. I have heard since you have over 1000- I hope the boys have received there heavy overcoats and blankets Col Drake had a cable from some one of the YMCA that they had a representative in Oflag 64 November the 28th and that everybody was OK that helped a lot I asked Katrine to wire or 5 call me by phone immediately as soon as she heard from you. Bob Wier who works for Jimmie Record took Flem Halls place [redacted by censor] Dick Walker Bobby Lard- saw Lards son Geo Woodmans son and a lot of them are over there. Had a nice letter from Phil North he asked to be remembered to you. [redacted by censor] I told you about Buddy Russeel being home with his wife she is real pretty and sweet Buddy looks fine [redacted by censor] Buddy had some great experiences Sidney Widerman and his wife spent the day and night with me last week he looks fine and asked especially to be remembered to you well old Tap we will soon land in Buffalo and I will mail this there, and write you again from New York and send you the pictures we made Xmas Day 7 showing all of us at the Dinner Table working on a big 25 pound turkey Ruth Carl and Katrine Mr & Mrs Raymond Buck and their little daughter Kay. Dale Levy Mr Amstater over at Meachams store and your Dad - we had your place at the head of the table.
