Description
Bellevue, Texas April 13, 1942 Mr. Amon G. Carter Fort Worth, Texas Dear Sir, I assure you I appreciate you very kind letter, concerning my husband, Chaplain Major William Dawson, now held as a prisoner in the Philippines. I found the list of prisoners in Star Telegram am keeping same for scrap book. There have been long days, months, and 2 years for us in our anxiety and waiting over a year since I've heard from my husband. Several nurses and our good friend Col. George Clarke who escaped Bataan, brought me messages from my husband. An I'm writing him letters, hoping they get through, I've also sent a cable, but as yet, "silence." You have our sympathy your son missing in N. Africa. Keep hoping and trusting. I had just such a message too. Some day, I feel you year more about your son. I appreciate the Star Telegram - we watch for new about prisoners. Sincerely, Mrs. Ruby Aileen Dawson
