Description
June 23, 1943 Dear Howard: I must apologize for not writing to you sooner, as I've had your letter for 3 weeks now. However, I've been in the hospital after a minor operation on my toe of all things. It seems so strange to have a toe operated on, but mine was extremely crooked, and grew under so that it hurt a lot of the time. Anyways, it is all striaght now and I am up around although I have to walk on my heel. We had two letters from Amon everal days ago, and were so glad to know that he recovered from the jaundice. That's a pretty nasty thing to have to go through. I do very little these days except sunbathe, and listen to my recoreds. Later on, I have to take some mathematics - college alegrbra and trigonmetry for college next fall. Amon is the math-metician in the family, for which I envy him extremely. Being a chemistry student, I need quite a bit of math, so there is nothing to do but study it, and much as I dislike it. You asked me for a snap shot, and I have been planning to take some, but for some reason, I've never done it. However, my next letter will contain one, I promise. I may look a little different than before as I am now wearing my hiar piled up on top of my head. It's much cooler this way. Although it makes me look older than my nineteen years. Again, let me say now much I enjoyed your letter, and do write again when it is possible. Keep an eye on that brother of mine for as he is a very special brohter. Most sincerely, Ruth
