- July 1, 1943 Dearest Ruth, Am getting along fine, but so far have only received two letters, dad & mother. Sure wish I was home now and enjoying a good Texas summer. Am sleeping under 3 blankets here. Hate to think of the winter. Write often and tell me all the news. Tell everyone hello for me. Hope to be home soon. Love, Amon JR
