- October 20, 1943 Dear Dad, Received some more officers from Texas today and more are due. Here is their name and addresses for the paper and they would appreciate any information you could give their folks about mail and parcels. Lt. Col. Gaines J Barron, 3200 Ethel Ave Waco, Capt. James B Bond 400 North 23rd St, Waco, Lt Ivan Carlisle 517 Vance St, Taylor Capt. Clarence Ferguson 207 N. Tyus, Groesbeck, Capt. Randolph Robinson, Eureka, Lt Carmen Williamson, Malone, Lt Floyd Vaden, 2611 Worthington, Dallas, Major Roy Irvin 2401-30th St Snyder Texas. More to come, rumor one from Ft. Worth. Here is one more Lt. Teddy Roggen, 2209 Wheeler Houston. Also American officers who were Italian prisoners arrived here. Larry Allen, associated press man is among them. Captain Paul Brown got away. One good friend of mine, who was in my old outfit at Knox arrived also. He was an Italian prisoner 10 months. Please wire his parents Mr. SA Weigand, 1714 Northcutt, Cincinnati, Ohio, that he is now safe at this camp. He is the red-headed kid in a lot of my movies. The rest of the officers in his battery got away. Received nice letters from Hugh Smith, Dr. McKnight, Mr. North. Thank them for me. I hope this letter won't cause any extra work, but it will probably stop a lot of worrying. Am feeling fine. Love, Amon, Jr.
