Description
Dear Mr. Carter: I have just returned from my leave of absense and am now at work in the War Dept,. The article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram has caused quite a fuss in the Red Cross, they have reported me to the War Department for actions. I don't think anything will come of it. Now they want to talk with me next week. I'll need those paper I loaned you and hope you're thrrough with them. Also please send me a copy of the article in the paper so I'll know what they're saying. I understand Mr. Pate has gone to Geneva for a visit so perhaps we've done some good. The government has opened up air mail serfice direct to France and Switzerland, taking the carrying of POW mail entirely away from Red Cross . Over 2,00,00 food parcels have been sent into Germany within the last month and more on their way, so it seems as if things ar emuch better now. The Red Cross assures me clothing has been sent into Oflag 63. I'll keep you informed of anything of interest. Please give my best Amon Jr. I'm still plugging for them. Quincey joins me in send our very best to you. Sincerely yours, TD Drank
