- Description
- Dear Mr. Carter: I have just talked with several of the returning officers. One of whome escaped on Mach 8 well wches German. Amon Jr. was holdingup alight when this officer left. Several hundred did escape and it was just the breaks. Oo bad of course they all couldn't get awya. In this morning's mail I receibed word that they had been moved to PACHIM having marched 350 miles and that their new address would probably be Oflag 64, Hammelburg, Wehkrie's XIII. Last Saturday I told Capt Feel and Lt. Hannon to stop off in fort worth and give you first hand information of the whole thing. I'm sure you have heard that by now. If I get anything new I'll wire you, don't worry I know it's to advise, but I fully believe Amon will make it if anyone does. He's strong, resourceful, and intelligent. With kindest reards from both Quincey and I, Sincerely, TD Drake.
