- Dear Mr. Carter: Imaine my surprise and jubilation when I was suddenly ordred home. I have been on leave prior to joining my new organization at camp Hood, Texas. I'm being assigned do the Tank Destroyers. We were all very sorry that Amon Jr. was among those who were taken prisoner on 14 February. I lost many dear friends that day. I extend to you my deepest sympath. let us hope we crush the Germans soon and get them back. Ada appreciated your messages so very much and thank you very very mch for sending them to hear. I hope we may both see you sometime soon as I would like to have you meet her. We both join in the kindest regards, Sincerely, Peter C. Hains
