- Description
- Dear Miss Deakins, Since I'm always at the office when I write to you - So do, overlook the stationery and scratchy pen. In my book keep it works fine for letter writin it ins't very satisfactory. I sent the fall edition of "In Ky" to you this week 0 Thought some nature Kentuckian might see it and enjoy it? Or prhapsou may? In the publicity department of that state I have a dear friend who is most obiliging and sends several of the Ky. magazines to lots of my friends and acquaintaences. One was sent to Amon Jr, but of course, it may never reach him. WHile he was in Irleand, I sent a copy that ha several highways leading to Ft. Knox in it and he enjoyed it so much.A short while after I sent the letter and snap shot to you be sent on to Amon Jr, I had a card from him. So, I've been writing lots. Some weeks almost everday as he said he could receive as many letters as I sent. Never have I been any happier than the day I heard from him for it had seemed years since I'd seen mail from im. It mentioned when and where he was capured and that he was getting along as well as could be expected to write often and not worry about him. He asked for another snapshot, which let me know he had receied one that I sent while he was yet in Africa. Said he hoped to be back in Ky soon? What do you think he meant by that? Does his father think that there is any chance of Amon being excahgned for a German prisoner? He told me one twice that he and his father had a code and I wondered if my card was written in code? If you think so, I'lll send a copy of the messae. Frinds of mine from sevral states hae sent clippings about Amon Jr. to me. A Capt. friend of mine, stationed at Camp Hood Texas sent an article from Star Telegram in which Amon Jr. told of the Arabs attacking him. did appreciate it so much for this friend is maried but he and I were good friends when I was reaching near Knox and he remembered me speaking of Amon Jr. and all the fun we'd had since I met him. In a swimming party last sunday a gentleman by the name of Walter Evans (Chubby) said he knew Amon Jr. and had been hunting with his father so many interesting things have occured about amon Jr. Hadn't realized that I had written so much. Know you're most bust but when you can find a little time, do let me hear any moe nwes of Amon Jr. Can I send packages other than food or do you suppose food would get by? Anything I can send or do would be so little for me but mean so much to him. I am mos areful of what I write to him, making the letters personal telling him what I'm doing etc. Again tanks for keeping me posted about him. WHen I hear anagin I'll let you all know. Sincerely, Margaret Edythe Harding
