- My dear Mr. Carter: I trust you will pardon my liberty in writing you, but turns out you have close associations with my husband, Gerneral Hartle. While you were in the Bristish Isles, his affection for you were clear. I could tell you were deeply distressed I see in learning from Russell that your son was listed as missing in action and he shared with me. But this message I received a letter from Russell enclosing this card from your son, a prisoner in Germany. I thank God that he has been saved. Yours most cordially, Lucile Clark Hartle
