Description
Dear Mr. Carter: In reply to your letter of Novemeber 21 stating that you had received a letter from your son, Lt. Amon G. Carter Jr. and in this letter, he mentioned my husband's name, Capt. KC Martin Jr, which is such a consolation knowing that someone has seen him since his imprisonment and was able to write home about it. Kirby was shot down June 16, shortly after that I received a wire from Wasington stating that he was mentioned in an enemy broadcast as being a POW. The next day letters poured in from short wave listeners stating the broadcast which was such a relief since I didn't have to face that first wire as many do, "missing in Action." I've received one German printed card wth Kirby signature (printed). This card stated that he was being sent to another camp so I am sure he was about to leave OFlag 64 at the time he sent this I just hope it won't be too much longer before I will hear from him again. Kirby's father lives in San Antonio. I am sendng your letter to him. He doesn't have much time to write so I want to thank you and your son in behalf of Mr. martin as well as myself in being so kind and considerate in writng as we are so anxious to hear any news concerning Kirby. I do hope the boys will soon be home again. Thanks again for you nice letter, thank your son for us too. Sincerely yours, Inez martin
