Description
Dear Mr. Carter and Miss Deakins: The clipping about Col. Drake arrived this morning andit certainly pepped me up considerable. Just to have figures on how many officers were at 64 and how many (total) had been lierated makes things look much brighter. You probably had the release from AP yesterday that 1500 American officers and men had sailed from Odessa for home. I checked with the WFAA newsroom (who gave the report on noon news) and Pete Hoth said they'd not released anything else nor had they released a list from the War Dept. of men in that group . I'm stil holding out lots of hope that the whole brunch was overtaken by the Russian Had a card from Henry written Jan 3 in which he said they had 6 inches of snow and it was the coldest he'd ever been They couldn't walk very fast in such weather, I'm sure. Thanks very much for the clipping. It's awfully kind of you to keep us all informed and I shall never forget. Sincerely, Elaine Pritchett
