Description
47 Dogwood Lane Rockville Centre - N.Y. Mr. Amon G. Carter Star Telegram Fort Worth - Texas My Dear Mr. Carter- Congratulations that you have seen your son and according to the picture - he looks to be in good shape. My son was taken in Italy and was at Oflag 64 until the Russians got close and then he was taken ((?) walked) to Stalag 3A - I have been informed by Leut Harry Abrams, who escaped, the our sons were together. When you write your son will you ask him as to whether he knew Lieut Donald T. Ruby and if so what became of him. The War Dept tells me that their latest information is Oflag 64 - but that the prisoners from there were moved but that is all they know. However my daughter in law received a card from him at Stalag 3A dated February 10- but nothing since. However it was reported on the radio about February 15th that those men in Stalag 3A able to work had been taken to Southern Germany. I know that a number of his friends escaped from Oflag but of course they know nothing as to more recent happenings. You can I imagine that his mother and I are rather anxious to get some word from our son. Thanking you in advance for your courtesy and trouble in the matter and hoping your boy will be home shortly I am Sincerely Charles S. Ruby May 11th 1945
