- Description
- 11 March 69 College Place Hampton, Va Dear Mr. Carter: You and Amon have been constantly in our thoughts and prayers since Charlie landed on the first day of this month. He has longed to call you but his hands are tied by the War Department. He put the call in for you as soon as we received your first telegram. The second one did not come until after he talked to you. Charlie shares your worry about your boy. He has told me over and over again - I do not believe he was killed. I think he is a Capt. It was hard to have this dreadful thing happen but I firmly believe we will live to average Fed Pass. Hold the thought that Amon will be all right. We must believe this and he will be. Charlie says he has developed a great deal. He is a splendid reconnaissance officer. he was not alone on that hill. Some of his section were with him. Perhaps six. Now that the War Dept. has notified you Charlie is at liberty to tell you anything he can find out. Of course he will call you if he has any news. God has greatly blessed us to have3 Charlie return to us safe and sound. I hope and pray that you will also be so blessed. Julia Redder Summerall
