Description
April 25, 1944 Dear Mr. Carter: I'll just write you a few lines to let you know that I received a letter today from Amon Jr. His letter was dated Feb 23rd and was uncensored. I sure was glad to hear from him and have written him a long letter which I'm going to try and send by airmail. He didn't have much to say about himself, but he gave me a little information about the fellows who are with him. I wrote him at the address which you gave me some time ago, and if there is any change I'd like for you to send me his corrected address. The one I have is Oflag 64, Germany. I'm going to write to him faithfully from now on. I'm still at the hospital here in Topeka, Kansas but expect to be released before long. I will probably go back to limited duty at Ft. Sil. I'd like to go back to Ft. Knox. I had a bone graft operation performed on my heel in January and that is what has been keeping me here so long. I got a letter the other day from Major Malless. he is back in the States now. He was injured in a JEEP accident. Maybe you have heard from him. I will close now but wanted you to know that I had heard from Amon Jr. Very Sincerely, Lt. Jim Simmons
