Description
1 June '43 Dear Mr. Carter: A few days ago I received word from both Mary and Dad that Amon is a prisoner in Germany, which is as I thought after investigating at Lessouda. I'm certainly glad to know that he is safe. I hope that sometime in near future there will be an exchange of prisoner , and Amon will be among those returned. We have had some very interesting and exciting events in the final stages of cleaning up North Africa. The last few days were just a big round up of prisoners and equipment we are now looking towards bigger events with the hope of completely defeating Germany soon, and liberating Amon and many others if they have not already returned. your probably remember my regimental commander, Col Peter Hain's II and I think you have his home address, because you wired his family once from England. He was executive officers of the combat command to which Amon was attached at the time of his capture. COl Hains has just returned to the United States, to get a promotion I hope. He can tell you of the general situation when Amon was captured. If you happen to see or contact him, please give him my regards, as I think he is the best commander under whom I have had the pleasure to serve. Best regards to you and with hopes for Amon's speedy return. Your friend, D.G. Talbot.
