- On reverse: "ETO HQ 45 33058 16 APRIL CREDIT… U S ARMY SIGNAL CORPS PHOTOG… SGT E.R. ALLEN (168). MURDER INC. IN A LARGE BARN JUST ON THE EDGE OF GARDELEGEN, GERMANY, AT LEAST 150 RUSSIAN, FRENCH, POLISH AND JEWISH POLITICAL PRISONERS OF GERMANY WERE BURNED TO DEATH BY SS TROOPS. THE ATROCITY WAS EXPOSED WHEN THE 9TH U S ARMY TROOPS CAPTURED THE GARDELEGEN AREA BEFORE THE GERMANS HAD TIME TO REMOVE THE EVIDENCE. PICTURED IS ONE OF THE VICTIMS STILL IN THE POSITION AS IF TRYING TO RISE AND ESCAPE FROM THIS HORRIBLE DEATH. (M) 102ND INF DIV, XIII CORPS, NUSA, GARDELEGEN, GERMANY.
