Description
February 14, 1944. Mr. Amon Carter, Ft Worth, Texas. My dear Mr. Carter: My friend Mr. William Fleming tells me that Amon, Jr. is a prisoner of the Germans. This was touching news to me. I have known through mutual friends of the beautiful devotion between you. Your patriotism, (?) mindedness, and public spirit always impressed me. The plight of your son has provoked a fellow feeling and frequent prayer. The predicament of Amon, Jr., and the death of Mr. Hopkin's son suggest the democratic nature of this war and its tragic cost. May the comfort of a strength more real than life be yours. Sincerely WR White.
