- Dublin, Texas 12-8-1943 Mr Amon. G. Carter Ft. Worth, Texas. Dear Mr Carter, I'm writing again for a little information, Do you write your boy air mail letters? And are you sending Him packages? We had a letter from Doyle last week, was written Oct 3rd. in it He stated we could send them that way but the Red cross said not to send them air mail He also wrote for clothing but we havent rec'd the labels from theWar department & they wrote us a month ago & said they would send them with request We're so anxious to send him the much needed articles, Doyle said he was wounded in the left hip ot serious, but said not to woryry that He was fine when he wrote but I wonder if He was. He said the treatment was good under the circumstances. Mr Carter I'll appreciate it so much if your boy mentions Doyle in the letters to you if you will let me know. Its so awful for our Dear boys to be prisoners but there's nothing we can do about it except ask God to protect them. I'll also appreciate it if you will print in your paper this little sketch there are so many people that have written me about Him thanks so much for all the information you've given me about Dear Doyle. Sincerely, Mrs. A. A. Dublin Tex R. 4 Dublin, Texas Please Print, 12-9-43 Mr & Mrs A. A. Yardley Received a letter from from their son Lt. Col. Doyle R. Yardley who is now a German prisoner. Col Yardley saw action in North Africia & Silicy before being taken prisoner in Italy. He was wounded before being taken prison but writes it wasent serious. Col Yardley attended, John Tarleton College, receiving his degress from Texas A & M. He was teaching school in the Rio Grande before being called into the Army in 1940.
