Dublin, Texas 8-28-44 Mr Amon Carter. Dear Sir, As I promised I would write if & when we heard from Doyle We had three cards today, one was written May 25th June 15th & June 25th, He said in the May 25th that he had rec'd His first parcel. From what He said He didnt get much, He just said dont send any more parcels He said such (?) could have been bought at a penny a piece before the war. I sent Him underwear pajamas all kinds of toilet goods & a box of candy I dont know what all I did send, He said in the last card His health was good & so was His spirits, He said He had a little garden 10x10. Said he had lots of vegeatables on that little spot. He was so blue in May He had had no mail in so long but in June He had gotten a number of letters He was in good spirits, I hope you have heard from your boy, from the reports over the radio the Russians are getting close to them, I pray that they will soon be liberated.
