- Description
- Aug 6./35 Dear Mr. Carter, I am sorry for being so late in thanking you for your wire which pleased me more than I can tell. They had me tied up in bed in such a fashion that didn't make writing very easy but I am getting on splendidly by now and about 4-5 weeks more in this place should be all I would want anyway - but when you are tied up and flat on your back there's not much chance of disobeying the doctor's orders. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers are the grandest people, they are always doing so much for us (my wife and self). Your personal property of the Ranch is well taken care of and as for the autograph books I have also attended to that by showing your wire to Mr. Rogers. He thought it most kind of you to take so much interest in me. Contrary to your annoncement that things are going to the dogs at the Ranch I hear that everything is O.K. even though the Rogers think they are missing me. Here I was just going to inquire when you would be coming out this way again when I noticed in this morning's Times the enclosed picture of two gentlemen I know quite well - an article disclosed your short stay in town. Mr. Rogers breezed into my room Sunday night just before taking the plan for his long trip. Again many thanks for your cheerful message to me. Respectfully, Emil Sandmeier. P.S. Some day I hope to be able to see all the nice things Texas offers! Emil.
