Description
805 W. 23rd St. Austin, Texas, Aug. 21, 1936. Mr. Amon G. Carter, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Fort Worth, Texas. My dear Mr. Carter: Several days after the tragic news of the passing of our beloved friend Will Rogers was brought to use, I planned a book of newspaper articles on his death and subsequent events relating to him. On this Memorial Day in Fort Worth dedicated to him, I would be very happy if Mrs. Rogers would accept this book - as a token of our love and continued interest in everything pertaining to him. I made this book of whole sheets rather than clippings in order not to sacrifice parts of articles. These papers are taken from Ft. Worth, Dallas, several valley towns, Arkansas, and even Tennessee. A year after his leaving us his memory is still fresh in the minds of those who loved him as is evidenced by any news about him being front page news. I thank you for your kindness in seeing that Mrs. Rogers receives this book. Very sincerely yours, (Miss) Lucille M. Rawlins (Spanish Teacher, Robert Lee Paschal High School, Fort Worth).
