- Dec 20, 1940 Mr. Amon G. Carter Dear Sir: Under separate cover I am sending you a picture of Will Rogers of whom you are a great admirer. This picture, the orginal painting, is the property of the above company, is for sale for $250.00 can be seen by you on approval sent to you with the guarantee of express charges both ways by you. It was painted by Josef C. Stoboda, one of the finest artist and also a friend of both Mr & Mrs Rogers. Who - Mrs Rogers gave her permission to have it painting giving us the Photo to have the artist paint, for as you know Will never sat still long enough to be painted. The picture will be sent framed - it is size 30 1/4 x 22 1/4 in Oil - this picture is new - being in our 1942 calendar line. If you are interested please write us at the above P.O Box, 1662, Tulsa, and I will have my company send this via Express - for or subject to approval, if you decide to buy it - advise me and I will have the above company send you a statement for same.
