- Description
- My Dear Mr. Carter: - I scarcely know how to start this letter and really let you know my deep feeling of appreciation for your truly magnificent hospitality - My only regret is that I feel it to be an almost impossible task to put in writing my feeling in this matter. I owe you a deep debt of gratitude for a very quiet an enjoyable stay in Fort Worth. I sincerely hope that my desire to stay out of the public prints in no way caused you any embarassment. On the occasion of your departure for Washington, I wished you all possible success, and may I take this occasion to reiterate that I believe that whatever you do concerning the matter, which you were kind enough to mention to me confidentially, will be not only for the best interests of the Democratic party, but also will be another triumph for you personally - With sincerest appreciation and hearty best wishes I remain sincerely Elliott Roosevelt
