Description
208 Artillery Post, Fort Sam Houston Tex. Sept. 7, 1945. Dear Amon: First permit me to again thank you on behalf of both Mrs. Simpson and myself for your many courtesies and hospitality extended to us during our visit to Fort Worth: We greatly appreciate them I assure you. The file of letters with your letter of transmittal arrived yesterday. Many thanks for them also. They will be preserved as part of my permanent records of the war. A couple of days ago I had the great pleasure of pinning the Bronze Star Medal on Amon Jr. He richly earned it and I was delighted to be able to give it to him. I have offered to assist him in any war I can in getting his discharge. I am sending a letter to the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Club thanking them for electing me (over) to Honorary Life membership. Mrs. Simpson and I have been busy packing up. We expect to remain here until about Sept. 20. Prior to that date I hope to receive orders giving me a definite assignment. I will let you know where we are to be located. Mrs. Simpson joins me in kindest regards and best wishes and again in thanking you for your many kindnesses. Sincerely yours, W. H. Simpson, Lieutenant General, U. S. Army.
