On reverse: "PLANNED PLANE WHILE FIGHTING FOR CZAR It was while Major Alexander P. de Seversky was serving as chief of pursuit aviation for the Baltic Sea for the Imperial Russian Government that he conceived the idea underlying the new basic training airplanes, which he later designed and of which the U.S. Army Air Corps has just ordered thirty-give at a cost of more than $750,000. Major de Seversky brought the idea with him to this country when he came here during the war as vice chairman of the Russian Aviation Commission. These ships, now under construction in the Farmingdale, L. I., plants of the Seversky Aircraft Corp. have a top speed, at sea level, of 200 miles per hour, and are completely streamlined, including streamline tires. In 10 minutes, they can climb to an altitude of 12,000 feet from sea-level. Above is shown Major de Seversky with one of the planes."
