- 11/15 1907 Dear Jno Henry Our friend the "Star" is in dire straights & must have help or "bust"- a calamity I hope all of us can escape. Louis thinks he can "raise the wind" if he can only get away from here & he can only do that by first providing for his pay roll while he is gone. Our banks are powerless to help him & I am on the "ragged edge". Every dollar I can possibly get I am needing (?) in my business - never the less I am willing to take a chance of busting my self to keep Louis & the Star. He will say an outside amt of $2000 to tide him over Of you will give him $1000 - I will give the same amt. & will pay out of the joint pot only what he has to have. You & I both love Texas & hope for her redemption. Let's keep the Star alive a little longer - yours Paul Waples
