- Description
- Sept 22 1918 Dear Amon:- Have been trying to find time to write you ever since I landed here and it dos look as if I have been pretty slow for a fellow who gets up at 5 o clock in the morning but must say they manage to keep me pretty busy all day long. I wish to thank you for the very nice send off you gave Herman & myself and the wonderful way you started Elsie to Jacksonville. Before Elsie came I didn't think much of Jacksonville & Camp Johnston and if I had to choose between a real up to date pest house and this camp I am sure that I would take the latter - for I have never had the small pox. Seriously speaking I think I am very fortunately situated here and I am really interested and am enjoying my work very much. Have been working a few notes on the way the camp is being run down here and when I get back to Ft. Worth I'll turn them over to the respective directors of the Ft Worth Club & River Crest - for I am sure I'll have a few pointers that Bill Paddock & Berney Anderson have over looked. With further apologies for not writing sooner and asking you not to count this as a regular letter (you see I'm writing this from the Hotel & I lose my wind when I get into town and meet Elsie) and promising to give you the real news at the first opportunity I am as ever Yours sincerely Will K. Stripling P.S. Remember me to Mr. Wortham, Bert and the "Bidders & Setters" club -W.K.S.
