Description
The Garner family home in Red River County in Texas. Mrs. Sarah Garner, John Nance Garner's mother, is seated in a rocking chair next to a fireplace holding a dog in her lap. It was this family of home loving, land loving people that John Garner, Speaker of the House, left 40 years ago to study law and to dabble in politics. They watch his career now from their homes in Detroit and Texas, where the Garners have lived for more than half a century.
